Activists of the Asom Jatiyotabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) on Saturday burnt the effigy of Assam State Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma at Ledo College Tiniali as a mark of protest against burning problems of the Ledo Public Health Centre and Industrial Training Institute, which are reportedly in a dilapidated condition.
Kanchan Bora, who is the General Secretary of AJYCP's Tinsukia chapter alleged that more than 3 years have elapsed since the formation of the BJP led Government at the Centre and the State, but no developmental works have been undertaken in Assam. "Only funds were waste in the name of festival and party only", the youth leader opined.
Ledo Public Health Centre is the only public health Centre in the locality which is regularly visited by 1,000 patients, but due to lack of doctors, nurses, facilities and few beds, patients suffer a lot.
