Kokrajhar: Hagrama Mohilary, the leader of the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) on Saturday offered prayers and worshipped Goddess Durga at the Subashpalli Sarbajanin Durga Puja mandap in Kokrajhar, Assam.

Mohilary has been visiting the puja mandaps across the Kokrajhar town on Saturday since morning and met devotees and citizens on the day. The former BTC chief was observed interacting with Kokrajhar residents amid subdued Durga Puja celebrations owing to the COVID-19 crisis.

The former BTC Chief has prayed for getting blessings from Goddess Durga for bringing peace and tranquillity amongst the all sections of the society in the region through the deep devotion to Goddess Durga on the Durga Puja celebration, he told reporters.

Mohilary said, “I do hope that Durga Goddess will bless the human society to get rid of the COVID-19. We must come forward to offer prayer and worship to the Goddess Durga while the Durga Puja is being celebrated accused the state.”

Former BTC executive members Rajib Brahma, Doneswar Goyary have also offered their prayers and worship to the Goddess Durga Devi on the occasion. Brahma said that the Durga Puja celebration brings integration among all sections of the society in the region.

Notably, nearly 100 Durga Puja mandaps have been erected in the Kokrajhar district this time around. It has been witnessed that the COVID-19 protocols prescribed by the Government are being observed at many of these mandaps where social distancing and wearing of masks has become the norm.

All puja celebration committees have been asked to follow strict guidelines reached from the concern higher authorities while organising the Durga Puja celebration.
