GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet Minister Pijush Hazarika informed today that the Government of Assam has made some administrative reforms in their weekly cabinet meeting today.

As per the new reforms, the Bodoland Territorial Region will get its own very Administrative Staff College in Kokrajhar.

Another reformation mentioned was the formation of the Bodoland Welfare Department, solely dedicated to the four districts of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

One of the major reforms that the cabinet has made is that for welfare schemes like Kushal Konwar Old Age Pension, Indira Miri Universal Widow Pension, and Deen Dayal Divyangjan Pension, government departments of Panchayat and Rural Development and Social Welfare, there shall be no need to submit ceiling proposals to Finance Department.

"From now on the cabinet has decided that there will be no requirement to submit a ceiling in the Finance Department. Instead, the senior-most secretary of the concerned departments can clear files and send them to the Treasury Office," informed Pijush Hazarika, Minister for Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs, in the press meet.

It was also mentioned that every beneficiary of these schemes will get their pension on the 10th of every month in their respective bank accounts.

“There was not a specific date before. Sometimes they receive it after 2 months, sometimes after 3 months,” added Hazarika.

As per government data, 13 lakh beneficiaries get Kushal Konwar Old Age Pension of Rs. 250 per month, 1.7 lakh women receive Rs 300 per month under Indira Miri Universal Widow Pension, and 1.6 lakh beneficiaries under Deen Dayal Divyangjan Pension will get Rs 1000.

Bharatiya Janata Party state President has been announced as Administration Guardian Minister for Bongaigaon, Dhubri, and Barpeta as the cabinet has promised earlier to assign one leader for each district.

Simultaneously, Asom Gana Parishad president Atul Bora has been assigned for the districts of Dibrugarh and Tinsukia, Urkhao Gwra Brahma for Baksa and Chirang, Chandra Mohan Patowary for Darrang, Kamrup and Kamrup (M), Parimal Suklabaidya for Karimganj, Hailakandi and Hojai, health minister Keshab Mahanta for Marigaon and Golaghat, Ranuj Pegu for Jorhat and Sivasagar, Ashok Singhal for Kokrajhar, Udalguri and Cachar, Jogen Mohan for West Karbi Anglong, Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao, Sanjoy Kishan for Dhemaji and North Lakhimpur, Ajanta Neog for Nalbari, Goalpara, and South Salmara, Pijush Hazarika for Nagaon, Sonitpur and Biswanath and Bimal Bora for Majuli, Charaideo, and Bajali.

Every Guardian Minister gets a secretary of his own and a department, which will be responsible for implementing government policy decisions, welfare schemes and review delivering justice in a quick manner on applications received by the public.

They are also bound to visit district headquarters once a month and more than once in case of emergency. They have to inspect at least one circle office during their visit as well.
