GUWAHATI: Considering the improved scenario of COVID-19 in Assam, the state education department has decided to re-open physical classes for all Degree and Post Graduate classes, all classes in Technical institutions/ Universities, B.Ed. The government on Tuesday issued fresh Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for both private and government educational institutions for resuming offline classes from October 1, 2021.
Lower Primary classes (Class I to V) and Upper Primary Schools (class VI to VIII) will reopen from October 19, 2021. Classes will be held for 3 days in a week. The attendance of Students of Lower primary school attendance is not compulsory has is purely based on parental consent. In addition, online classes will also continue if found necessary. It was further mentioned that no cultural function, meetings etc. until further notice.
Secondary Schools (Class IX and X) and Sr. Secondary Schools (Class XI and XII)
Class IX physical classes will start from October 1 and class XI will start from October 19 on day to day basis.
The attendance of Students is not compulsory has is purely based on parental consent.

Degree Colleges/Engineering colleges/Polytechnics/Teachers training colleges/Universities will reopen from October 1. However, Head of the institutions will ensure that safety protocols are followed.
There should not be more than 30 students in a section.
The official statement further mentioned that the Educational Institutions are allowed to open for vaccinated teachers and staff.
Physical distancing of at least 6 feet has to be strictly followed and should be maintained in staff rooms, office area and other places of public interaction.
PROTOCOL TO BE FOLLOWED IN CASE OF DETECTION OF SUSPECTED CASE OF COVID-19
The sick student or sick staff should be placed in a room or area where they are isolated from others.
The nearest medical center should be contacted
Disinfection of premises to be taken up if person is found positive.
