AIZAWL: In the midst of the ongoing border dispute between the neighbouring states of Assam and Mizoram, miscreants from the Mizoram side on Tuesday reportedly set as many as 20 houses on fire along the border area of Kosurtol in Hailakandi.
According to reports, during the day, a clash between locals from both ends left at least three people injured. The injured people were taken to a nearby hospital, reports said.
The tension erupted further leading to the torching of houses belonging to residents from Assam side of the border.

Katlicherra MLA Suzam Uddin Laskar expressed "dissatisfaction" and alleged that despite being a small state, Mizoram continues to occupy land and even issue land pattas, whereas the Assam government has failed so far to save its forestlands in the border.
Meanwhile, police and district administration authorities of both states reached the site of the incident to take stock of the situation.
Investigations are underway and more information is awaited.
