Assam government on the 10th of September has decided that a person travelling to any location outside of the state and returns back within 96 hours of departure, will not be required to undergo quarantine of 10 days.

The new guidelines have been issued on Thursday through an official order issued by Principal Secretary to the Government of Assam, Samir K. Sinha.

  • The person will have to undergo Rapid Antigen Test on return.
  • If the Rapid Antigen Test result is positive, he/she shall undergo home quarantine/ treatment in COVID Care Centre or hospital, according to the issued protocols.
  • If the Rapid Antigen Test result is negative, his/her swab sample would be taken for RT-PCR testing and he/she will have to remain in isolation till RT PCR test result is declared, and an undertaking will be submitted by each person to this effect. If the RT-PCR test result is positive, he/ she shall undergo home isolation/ treatment in COVID Care Centre or hospital, as per protocol. If the RT-PCR test result is negative, the person need not undergo any further quarantine,
  • The person will strictly comply with hygiene and social distancing norms during the stay outside Assam.”

Informing this, the Health Minister tweeted, “2 decisions by Health Dept on #Covid19 A. In view of #unlock4guidelines a person who travels outside Assam & returns within 96 hrs will not be quarantined subject to conditions in attached order B. upto Rs 5000 towards cremation of #COVID patients if family unable to bear cost”

The Assam Government of Thursday also announced that they will provide up to Rs.5000 to the relatives of those who cannot bear the cremation expenses of patients who die of COVID-19 in Assam.
