Cleverly and gradually sidelining the COVID-19 issue, all the political parties including the ruling saffron party have pulled their socks up to give a tough fight in the ensuing Assam Assembly Election to be held next year.
Pouring some flavor in the state’s politics, Pijush Hazarika, Minister of State, Health & Family Welfare, on August 14th, 2020 said that state Health, Education and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has all merits to become the next Chief Minister of the state.

“Himanta Biswa Sarma has all merits to become the Chief Minister of the state. There is no doubt. He has been a very successful minister which everybody knows. Still, I would say, the party will take the final call in the matter,” Pijush said.
Claiming that it would not be easy to defeat the BJP in the state Assembly Election, Pijush said, “Everybody knows that it is quite impossible to defeat BJP till Himanta Biswa Sarma is there in the party. Each and every party knows that he does not sleep and eat until the target is fulfilled. Now, the target is election and this will be fulfilled in whatever ways Himanta Biswa Sarma wants.”
Talking about the competitors, Pijush said, “I heard that AASU is going to form a political party. Congress, AASU backed political party and other parties are now scared for which they are shouting useless thing.”
