A 21-year-old youth died allegedly due to medical negligence in the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH). The youth has been identified as Mashuk Ahmed of Balighat in the Cachar district.

In a video circulated on Facebook, the guardian of the deceased alleged that the doctors did not attend the patient who was admitted in the medicine ward.

“He was tested negative for the COVID-19. Thereafter, he was given oxygen after several requests were made in the hospital and later, he was shifted to the medicine ward where the doctors had not visited him,” one of his family members alleged.

This has again raised questions on the part of the medical authority and the government. The family demanded justice and appropriate action against the hospital authority.
