GUWAHATI: After a gap of almost two years, another employee of the Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) committed suicide at the premises of Guwahati’s Paltan Bazar office today morning.
The last case of suicide in the department was reported in October 2019, when a retired employee of the corporation committed suicide because of alleged non-payment of retirement benefits.
In the latest incident, the employee has been identified as Dhrubajyoti Thakuria (40). Thakuria was a resident of Tihu in Nalbari district. He was employed as a contractual electrical assistant for the past two years.
