TAMULPUR: A seven-year-child in was electrocuted in Assam's Baksa district last evening.
The deceased child has been identified as Prashanta Mandal, son of Ravi Mandal.
The kid died after being electrocuted by a live wire following a thunderstorm in the Kawli area of Nagrijuli, Tamulpur.
The locals of the area have been alleged that the power department is responsible for the death of the child.

Speaking to the media, a local said that an electric wire fell on the ground during a thunderstorm on Tuesday night, and the power department employees did not take any step even after being repeatedly informed.
Initially, there was no electricity on the wire, but when the power department unexpectedly turned on the power supply, the seven-year-old child who was playing nearby was electrocuted and critically injured, the locals added.

The child was rushed to Kumarikata state hospital immediately. But, the doctor declared the child dead.
After the death of the child, people have been agitated against the power department of Tamulpur.
Locals said it is now a mystery why the electricity department, which sends bills ranging between Rs 25,000 and Rs 30,000 per month, does not pay any attention to it.
