On the other hand, Mariani Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Rupjyoti Kurmi has strongly opposed the pre-poll alliance between the Congress and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF). The firebrand leader also criticized both former chief minister of Assam Tarun Gogoi and Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora saying they does not have self confidence. Kurmi stated that after talking to all the core committee members it has come to the fore that it was not a unanimous decision to forge an alliance with Badruddin Ajmal led AIUDF. Kurmi said that he would keep opposing the Congress-AIUDF alliance
BJP Assam Pradesh Minority Morcha president, Muktar Hussain Khan has claimed that the Congress-AIUDF and other regional parties alliance will not affect the saffron party in any way.
