The latest statement by BJP Minority Morcha Assam State President, Sayed Mominul Awal is waging a controversy.

In the latest statement by Awal, he alleged that the Muslim MLAs from the Congress in Assam are of Bangladesh origin. He stated that out of the total number of 26 MLAs from Congress, 15 MLAs are from the Bangladesh. He further added that is only because of Congress that a huge number of infiltrators from Bangladesh has settled over Assam which leaves a great threat to the indigenous people of Assam.

Speaking to Inside ne, Mominul Awal stated that except for Rekibuddin Ahmed, Congress MLA from Saigaon Constituency, all other Muslim MLAs from Congress are of Bangladesh Origin. He further added that Congress is no different from AIUDF and could be considered equivalent to the latter. It stated that Congress as a Party never stood for any National cause, on the contrary it always opposed things of Nationalistic interest. He went on to say that it is Congress who has been shielding and harbouring the Bangladeshis in Assam

In Conversation with insidene, former Minister of Power from Congress, Pradyut Bordoloi slammed Mominul Awal’s controversial statement. He reciprocated saying that AIUDF which has its basis on Communalism can never be compared to Congress. Congress on the other hand has always been a party with Nationalistic roots. He stated that it  has always been a part of strategical policy of both BJP and RSS to polarize the Hindus and the Muslim of Assam into two blocks. He stated that it is BJP whose doing its part to harbour the illegal immigrants from Bangladesh. He provide the instance of Biplab Deb, chief minister of Tripura, whom Bordoloi alleged to be from Bangladesh. Lastly with a sarcastic tinge, the former Minister expressed his bouts of doubt about the origin of the Minority chief who made the very statement.
