Court awards death sentence for rape

Guwahati (Assam), 1 Aug 2018:

Two prime accused in the sensational rape and murder of a school headmistress in Hojai district last year have been convicted by a court in Hojai on Wednesday.

The court of Additional District & Session Judge awarded death sentence to prime accused Moinul Haque, while co-accused Salimuddin has been given life imprisonment

It may be mentioned that 58-year-old Arunamai Bora, headmistress of Jamunamukh Deuri LP School, was brutally raped and murdered by Moinul Haque and Salimuddin by waylaying her as she was returning from the school on 31st May 2017. Thereafter, the duo threw away her body in Kopili river.

The brutal rape and murder had caused sensation across the State.
