Congress legislator from Mariani has once again taken a dig on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Assam government of playing politics over the COVID-19 pandemic issue. Kurmi said that the COVID-19 is a big lie and drama. “I once again reiterate that COVID-19 is a drama. It is politics,” Kurmi said on Tuesday.

Kurmi also said that former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi is not infected with COVID-19 but has been ill for age-related problem.He also expressed doubt about former President of India Pranab Mukherjee was infected by the virus.

Earlier on Monday, MLA Kurmi claimed that “Corona is a lie, Corona is a drama. The government has made a fuss about the issue.”He also made a strange argument by comparing Coronavirus with the spring season diseases which comes and goes every year.

On Monday, Kurmi was suspended from the house on the first day of the four day autumn session of Assam Legislative Assembly. Kurmi was suspended by speaker Hitendra Nath Goswami for creating noisy scenes in the House over Clause 6 report of Assam Accord by the high level committee.

The firebrand legislator had accused the ruling BJP-led government of not being serious in implementing the clause 6 of the Assam Accord. Taking a dig on the saffron party, the congress legislator said that it will become clear that the BJP led government is not at all serious on implementing the clause 6 of the Assam Accord on the lines of recommendation made by the High level committee.

Speaking in the autumn session of the four day Assam assembly, Kurmi regretted that the report of the high level committee led by Retd. Justice BK Sharma was accepted by the chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal whereas it should have been done by Union Home minister Amit Shah. Kurmi also accused the BJP of indulging in dirty politics pertaining to the implementation of the clause 6 of the Assam Accord.

Kurmi also accused the BJP of doing politics in establishing in All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in Assam. He said that the BJP had assured the people of Assam to establish the AIIMS at Raha before the 2016 Assam assembly elections but later State Health & Family Welfare minister established it at Changsari as it is his home constituency.
