The turmoil eloped in the Dibrugarh Muharram incident is yet to be concluded as the massive protests have been staged after apprehensions were being made in the past 24 hours.

Expressing this to be an unfortunate incident, Deputy Commissioner of Dibrugarh, Pallav Gopal Jha, on Thursday said, “There were some miscreants who were involved in this act. We have received evidence of people involved in vandalism. The police investigation is on and we have also arrested some.”

Pallav Gopal Jha added, “When we give permission for such events, usually we do the security detailing. Even the Magistrates are present in the committee meetings and we take the necessary measures and discuss with the respective committees in case of any mishap.”
The Deputy Commissioner has further mentioned that in such cases, the police investigate the matter and in some cases, the authorities have to wait so that the situation doesn’t go out of control.
On the other hand, seeking bail for the arrestee, advocate Ajit Buragohain said that the sections were bailable. He mentioned that the first part of IPC 120B is non-bailable and the latter is bailable. The Court agreed with the latter and released the two people who were arrested in the Muharram violence, he added.
