An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale jolted Northeastern states including Assam, Manipur, Tripura and Mizoram at around 11:08 PM IST. The epicentre was at Tamenglong, Manipur.
The earthquake struck at a depth of 28 km on latitude 24.69 North and Longitude 93.47 degree East, as informed by the National Center for Seismology (NCS), Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India.
The NCS on its twitter handle informed, "Earthquake of Magnitude:5.3, Occurred on 10-10-2020, 23:08:00 IST, Lat: 24.69 & Long: 93.47, Depth: 28 Km ,Location: Tamenglong, Manipur"

According to reports, no damage has been confirmed till now.
According to reports, after the major tremble, another minor quake measuring 2.8 on the Richter scale occurred at 11.39 pm in the same mountainous Tamenglong district at a depth of 30 km.
