DIMA HASAO: Joy Singh Durung Member of Autonomous Council (MAC) of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) has joined the Dima Hasao Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) committee.
Durung, who was elected from the Garampani constituency by the Congress party on January 19, 2019, and won with a large number of votes on the 22nd of January 2019, has joined the BJP at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Bawan Haflong in the presence of Debolal Gorlosa, CEM of NCHAC, Ranu Langthasa, Chairperson of NCHAC, Donpainon Thaosen, District President of BJP, and other members.
In the 2019 MAC election, 19 candidates were elected from the BJP, one from the Assan Gana Parishad (AGP), six from the independent party, and two from the Congress party.

Addressing the media, in Haflong, Durong said that he joined the saffron party because the Congress party was unable to bring about development.
He also stated that his constituency has seen a slew of developments in every sector under the leadership of NCHAC-led CEM Debolal Gorlosa.
He further stated that he will work for hand in hand with the present council team to uplift his people of his constituency and of the whole Dima Hasao as well.
He also said the reason behind the joining of rulling party BJP is that he can place the public grievances and demand in front of the government and also fulfill it.
