Following the death of a person due to electrocution at a warehouse on 1st August, Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Chairman Virendra Mittal has directed Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) Commissioner and Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) Chief Executive Officer to take strict action against the warehouse.
Mittal told InsideNE, “Owner of the godown, Kamrup Warehouse, illegally constructed a third floor without taking any permission from GMDA and GMC. Also, the owner did not maintain the approved distance of the building from the HT line due to which the person was electrocuted.”
He added that there are other godowns situated in the area very close to the HT line, due to which such incidents may occur in the near future.
