Kokrajhar, July 23, 2019:

The fact that the fury of the flood spares none became evident after visuals emerged which showed Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary's Kokrajhar residence submerged by floodwaters.

Visuals of the MP's flooded house have reached Inside Northeast and in the clip, some of his family members can be seen in a state of utter confusion, as they try to figure out how to get rid of the water in the house.

The MP Biswajit Daimary, while speaking to Inside Northeast, said that Kokrajhar town has been completely inundated because of incessant rains. "No one has been spared by the floods here. All are suffering equally. Waters levels are rising, in fact. The water level might be receding in other areas of Assam, but no such luck in the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) areas", Daimary laments.

Assam has been hit by one of its worst floods in recent times as people in 30 districts have been affected. Moreover, numerous deaths have been reported from many areas. Animals have also been great sufferers in these floods as many endangered animals, such as the one-horned rhinoceros, have drowned in flood waters.

Although the rest of Assam is starting to see mild improvements as the water has receded in a few ares, the Boroland Territorial Council (BTC) areas are seeing a renewed spell of rains. The incessant rains in the Kokrajhar town have caused yet another dire situation in the area and the locals of Kokrajhar are facing a lot of difficulties due to water-logging and flash floods.
