DHUBRI: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Dhubri today informed that the National Lok Adalat on September 11 will take up as many as 591 cases and mitigate them off through mutual settlements.
The Chairman of Dhubri DLSA, Thaneshwar Kalita, also informed that there are additional 1,035 cases related to nationalized banks at Dhubri district which have been taken up to dispose of at the pre-litigation stage.
Kalita said that all the interested parties of the pending and pre-litigation matters have been notified for hearing before the Lok Adalat benches that will operate at the Court Premieres on September 5.

“Due to the pandemic both the courts have been highly affected and many cases have remained pending. The Lok Adalat is a good opportunity to settle the matters, for all the parties”, said Kalita.
He also added that they will have the facility of attending the Lok Adalat in a virtual manner, through online processes.
“We will try to dispose of almost 30% of the proceedings through video conferencing procedures”, Kalita added.
Gypsy Deb, the secretary of DLSA informed that more than a sum of Rs12 crore is pending before 24 branches of different banks in the district, in 1035 cases. In accident claims the DLSA will try to compensate around Rs 5 crores, she said.
