MARIANI: One person, identified as Sabhu Nath of Mariani in Jorhat has been sent to jail after getting caught red handed for selling contraband drugs yesterday.
A pharmacy, named Jagabandhu Medical, situated in the middle of Mariani town that was suspected to be selling drugs for a longer time, was caught red handed by All Assam Students' Union (AASU) workers while selling drugs to one person, named Throng Tipa of Nagaland, late on Saturday.
Officer in charge of Mariani Police station Tilok Bora has confirmed this to InsideNE. Bora said: "The locals have been suspecting the medicine shop of selling drugs but they had no proof. On Saturday, AASU workers caught them red handed and handed them over to the police."
