Maruti Suzuki dealer's license cancelled for selling old cars in Guwahati

As per instructions of Commissioner, a raid was conducted at the Khanapara showroom of Poddar Car World in the city.

The Transport Department, comprising vehicle inspectors and other officials, transport department officers of Kamrup Metropolitan found lot of anomalies during the raid.

According to the report, one of the inspectors of DTO's office checked a vehicle that was old and sold after repainting based on a complaint received from a person against the dealer filed at the DTO’s office.

During questioning by the officials of the District Transport Office, Poddar Car World officials accepted that the vehicle is an old one and claimed it was sold accidentally. Not convinced with their logic, the transport department cancelled their trade licence and trade certificate with immediate effect.

As per the report a technical probe has been initiated and the dealer cannot sell vehicles till the investigation is complete.
