Guwahati, March 16, 2019:

The disturbances within the BJP camp were in plain view for the world to see today as Tezpur MP Ram Prasad Sarmah resigned after the party chose to overlook him during the 2019 Lok Sabha election. At a press meet held in the afternoon, the longtime party member lambasted the party including Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal who apparently did not come to his aid while he was seeking the elusive ticket. But it seems like Sarmah still has some friends left in the BJP.

Controversial MLA Shiladitya Dev batted for the MP on Facebook where Sarmah has been expressing his woes since the morning after tendering his resignation. Sarmah had posted: “I have left BJP today. But I really feel pained in my heart for those old BJP workers of Assam who were most neglected in the Party by the new intruders in the Party. I was strongly raising my voice on their behalf. Now there will be none to raise voice for them. It's old guards of the Party who tioling for decades brought BJP to power without any other support. But now they are most neglected and ill treated. Love you my dear friends. I will be still with you. Thank you for your help and support and support and love for me.”

To this, Shiladitya replied from his Facebook profile: “Dada do not loose heart…You are our leader…The next generation has to learn from your sacrifices…Our party has taught us NATION FIRST PARTY NEXT SELF LAST.”

Amid the severe internal disturbances within the party, it is indeed surprising to see a BJP MLA coming to console R P Sarmah as it is widely believed that the party leadership has deserted the veteran leader.
