DHUBRI: A huge amount of contraband drugs were seized from a house of a member of the National Bajrang Dal in Assam's Dhubri district in the early morning today.

Police raid near police check gate in Dhubri suburbs and also apprehended three persons recovering a huge quantity of contraband tablets.

Acting on a tip-off, Deputy Superintendent of Police Dipankar Dutta Lahkar of Dhubri Special Branch conducted the raid in the residence of Rahul Prasad in the early hours today and was able to seize the contraband tablets, along with some other objectionable substances.

The apprehended persons have been identified as -- Rakesh Das (24), Rahul Prasad (26), and a day-long mason Abu Taleb Mollah (33) resident of Dhubri.

Accused Rahul Prasad is said to be a member of the National Bajrang Dal, for a long while there have been allegations of free movement of drugs in the name of the National Bajrang Dal.

According to police, the accused Rahul has been involved in distributing illegal tablets for a long time, and this is the third time Rahul and Rakesh have been apprehended in connection with supplying addictive substances.

The trio is still being interrogated by police, and a complaint has been filed against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, according to Partha Pratim Gogoi, Officer-In-Charge Dhubri.
