Kokrajhar, January 22, 2020:

Dreaded National Democratic Front of Boroland (Saoraigwra) (NDFB-S) leader B Bidai has returned to the mainland on Wednesday, following the rest of the leaders and cadres of the militant group.

Earlier it was reported that M. Batha, another leader, had crossed the border from Myanmar to India to join in the insurgent group's peace talks with the government of India.

Both Bidai and Batha, two of the topmost leaders of the NDFB (S), were welcomed with open arms in Gossaigaon under Kokrajhar district of Assam.

Supporters of the peace process welcomed the dreaded insurgent leaders to their respective homes after a long period of exile. NDFB(S) Secretary BR Feranga expressed his joy at the return of his comrades. "We are very happy. As you have seen that all the leaders are here...This means that we all want peace," he said.

It may be mentioned here that more than fifty cadres of the proscribed outfit had returned to India from Myanmar through the Nagaland and Manipur international borders in order to discuss peace deals with the government. They arrived with their families on January 11 to venture into a more peaceful world by discussing their issues with the centre and come to a peaceful solution.

A peaceful and separate Bodoland is the main demand of the NDFB(S) from the Government of India. It needs mention here that the Bodos have been demanding a separate Bodoland since decades and the NDFB(S) cadres have returned from Myanmar to put an end to the conflict and work towards a peaceful Bodoland. Currently, they are sheltered at the first designated camp in Kokrajhar’s Dighli village.
