TINSUKIA: In the latest development, the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) today suspended one of its members who was present during the Phillobari senior secondary school incident that made a female teacher kneel down in front of students in Tinsukia district of Assam.
As per reports, the students were protesting against the admission fees backed by some local organizations on October 11, 2021.
The students allegedly blocked the institute's entrance in protest of a fee increase.
The students were protesting against the school administration, which had allegedly collected Rs 3000 from each of the institute's students.
The situation took a grim turn after the teacher said something in a raised voice which was not taken well by the protestors. Eventually, the teacher had to kneel down before the students.
The female teacher was humiliated and made to kneel down in front of students of Philobari in Tinsukia.
Although the incident took place at Philobari Senior Secondary school on Monday. However, the video of the bizzare incident came to light recently.

The video, circulating on various social media platforms, has created widespread outrage. Reportedly, the state government has directed proper investigation of the matter.
The school authorities meanwhile claimed that the students did not have any discussions with them over the issue of admission fees and staged the protest even before letting them know about the issue.
Interacting with the media, the teacher said, "I am still not able to get over the incident. I was feeling emotional. All I want is that the academic ambiance should be healthy and beautiful. I would like to request everyone to do what I couldn’t do in my teaching career of 27 years."

After the video went viral on social media platforms, the Assam government has also ordered an investigation into the incident at Phillobari senior secondary school.
The Tinsukia district administration immediately ordered an investigation and requested a report within three days.
Meanwhile, Sankar Jyoti Baruah, AASU general secretary said in a video message on his social media account that AASU was not involved in the demonstration. However, one of our members was there throughout the protest, and therefore he has been immediately suspended.
The suspended AASU member has been identified as Karna Borgohain.
"We would like to apologize for the incident. AASU opposes any degradation of teachers," he added.
