DIBRUGARH: Dibrugarh Police seized Rs 6 lakh from one person, identified as Suraj Basfor, during routine check at Khaliamari here today for violation of model code of conduct ahead of the Assam assembly elections.
Police has handed over the amount to static surveillance team as per the system.
The flying squad also seized unaccounted cash of over Rs 4 lakh from two places in Cachar district ahead of the assembly elections, police said today.

The flying squad personnel recovered cash of Rs 2.64 lakh during a search operation in Silchar on Wednesday while a surveillance team seized Rs 1.37 lakh during raids in Katigorah area.
State police, flying squads and static surveillance teams (SST) across Assam are presently keeping close vigil against any suspicious movement of cash, valuables, liquor, contraband etc in view of the assembly elections.
Elections to the 126 assembly seats in Assam will be held in three phases between March 27 and April 6. Votes will be counted on May 2.
