GUWAHATI: Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Pramod Boro has warned that he would write to the companies not to sell KTM bikes, which is massively popular among the youths, in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) area if KTM riders do not control their drink and reckless driving nature.
"It was observed in last two years that most of the road accidents that took place in the BTR were due to teenaged KTM bikers and their reckless driving. People ride Royal Enfield too but they do not create chaos and go to to their destination in groups smoothly," said Pramod Boro speaking with the media persons today.

Boro added, "But KTM riders will drink and drive which results in their own death as well as others in accidents. Many families have been destroyed due to this. Hence I urge them to stop drink and reckless driving immediately or I am to especially ask the companies in black and white not to sell this bike in the BTR."
According to the latest government data, Assam ranked at 18 in fatal road accidents among the Indian states and it has recorded 3,019 fatal road accidents, out of 8,350 total accidents, in the year 2019, which was 2,445 in the year 2016.
In the year 2019, as many as 7,473 persons were injured and 3,208 were killed in the state.
