The All Bodo Students Union(ABSU) has demanded early solutions to the issues of Bodo medium education and language development through the spirit of Clause 6 of the Bodoland Territorial Region(BTR) accord in the state of Assam.
A six-member delegation team of the student union led by its president Dipen Boro on Sunday met Assam minister of Education Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati and submitted seven points of reminder note on Bodo medium educational issues in relation to the BTR accord and urged the minister to implement properly towards the uplift and development welfare aspects.
The delegation team discussed with the minister thoroughly in detail and processed for the solution of the issues of the Bodo medium education taking the officers present at the discussion.
According to Clause 6 of the BTR Accord which has emphasized strong initiative to make development and welfare of the Bodo medium education.
The other members of the ABSU delegation were Jayanta Basumatary, Vice-President; Lawrence Islary, General Secretary; Kungkhra Swargiary, Adviser, Romeo P Narzary, Ex-VP ABSU, and Kwrwmdao Wary, Assistant General Secretary.
As per the spirit of the BTR accord, " Clause 6.4 Government of Assam will establish a separate Directorate for Bodo Medium Schools in the State and minister Sarma has informed the same will be introduced in the ensuing Assembly session with the budget allocation to implement as per the clause of the BTR Accord".
The Clause 6.3 Government of Assam will initiate measures to provincialize (i) schools colleges established in BTAD, and (ii) Bodo Medium Schools outside BTAD, as per special need and requirement. The State Govt. will also take measures to appoint lecturers in Bodo Departments in colleges outside BTAD as a special consideration.
In the above matter for provincialisation of the Bodo Medium institutions from LP to PG looking into the pros and cons considering the special need and requirements, the Government of Assam under the Education department has assured to implement the clause.
The Government of Assam will notify Bodo Language in Devanagri script as an associate official language in the State.
In this regard, he assured me to write to the concerned departments to solve the long-pending Associate Official Bodo Language implementation in the state of Assam under the Clause 6.2 of the BTR accord.

Moreover, the matters regarding the recent declaration of the addition of the Science Streams in the incumbent Degree colleges of BTAD districts will be implemented after the Model Code of Conduct for BTC Election will come to an end. The matters to the CTET candidates left out in recent appointments and age-related matters will be resolved after office consultation in the concerned departments.
Further, he had expressed his willingness to resolve all the Bodo medium Educational related matters in the state of Assam, the reminder memorandum read.
The ABSU is hopeful that all the provisions in the BTR accord will get due attention and implemented by the Government of Assam whatever comes under the domain of the state.
