GUWAHATI: Tarun Gogoi, 3-time former Chief Minister of Assam, has been put under mechanical ventilation support around 5:30 PM in the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) on Saturday due to his deteriorating health. According to fresh inputs, Gogoi's condition has turned critical with "multi-organ failure."

The GMCH Superintendent has said that the veteran politician is under observation and doctors will keep an eye on him and try to preserve his organs.
Earlier, it was reported that Gogoi was "critical" and had been put under non-invasive ventilation. GMCH superintendent Abhijit Sarma yesterday told media that he was maintaining oxygen saturation of around 96-97% and his urine output had decreased. He also admitted that if Gogoi's condition did not improve, he would have to undergo dialysis.
State health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who visited the GMCH to make an assessment of Gogoi's health earlier in the evening today, said that the former Assam CM Tarun Gogoi's health condition is critical with multi-organ failure following post-Covid complications.

Gogoi was admitted to GMCH at around 10.30 pm on November 1 after he had complained of breathing problems.
According to Health Minister, a team of doctors has been monitoring Gogoi at all times, even as the former Chief Minister has continued to complain of breathing problems and his speech has been impaired.
The former chief minister was first admitted to the GMCH on August 26 after he tested positive for COVID-19. Gogoi informed about his COVID positive status through a tweet, following which he was shifted to hospital. Even though he has tested negative, Gogoi is said to be suffering from post-COVID related complications.
