Tension prevailed at Margherita Subdivision when wild pachyderms in search of food came out from nearby Forest Reserve. The herd of elephants completely destroyed 4 houses at 2 Number Makum Pather Gaon on Friday midnight.
According to sources, a group of elephants in search of food came out and entered 2 Number Makum Pather Gaon under Makum Pather Gaon panchayat of Margherita Subdivision, which getting any food Wild Pachyderm completely destroyed 4 houses injuring, unfortunately, all those who were present at the houses manage to escape but one Rajen Tanti (38) was seriously attacked by wild Pachyderm and got injured.
Immediately injure Rajen Tanti was taken to Margherita Civil Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, Ahom Sabha Margherita Sub division Committee General Secretary Utap Konwar have to Forest Department officials to Provide full compensation to those whose houses were destroyed and to provide better medical facilities to Rajen Tanti.

It may be mention that many previously trees were mercilessly chopped at Margherita Subdivision which falls under Digboi Forest for that is the cause of Wild Pachyderm moves to residential areas in search of food. The Digboi Forest Division Divisional Forest officer Atiqur Rehman has not taken any step to take stringent action against those who were involved in chopping precious mercilessly at Margherita Subdivision under Digboi Forest Division which Nature Lovers of Margherita have raised many questions against Digboi Forest Division Divisional Forest Officer Atiqur Rehman.
