The 57th Central Convention of the All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) commenced today with a four-day-long grand event at Bodofa Fwthar, Dotma, in Kokrajhar district.
The convention, a crucial gathering for the Bodo community, is set to witness key deliberations on socio-political, educational, and cultural issues.
Assam Cabinet Minister Urkhao Gwra Brahma inaugurated the main pandal, marking the formal beginning of the convention.
Gossaigaon MLA Jiron Basumatary inaugurated the main entrance gate, while BTC Executive Member Ranjit Basumatary opened the exhibition, which showcases the rich cultural heritage and developmental strides of the Bodo community.
The convention will feature a series of educational sessions, literary discussions, and cultural programs aimed at fostering unity and progress within the Bodo community. The event is expected to host thousands of attendees, including students, intellectuals, and community leaders.

A major highlight of the convention will be the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who will attend the Open Session as the Chief Guest on the concluding day.
Alongside him, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, BTC Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro, and several ministers and MLAs will address the gathering. The Open Session is anticipated to witness a massive turnout of nearly two lakh people.
On March 14, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will participate in an interactive session with students. Under the theme "Empowering Youth for a Vibrant Bodoland Region and a Viksit Bharat," Pradhan will engage with young minds, discussing key educational policies and opportunities that align with the government's vision for development in the Bodoland region.
The ABSU convention remains a pivotal platform for shaping the future of the Bodo community, and this year’s edition is expected to make significant contributions toward policy discussions and regional empowerment.
