Amit Shah says Modi boosted Assam with Rs 15 lakh crore against Congress’ Rs 1.28 lakh crore in 10 years
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on February 20 said that Assam has emerged as the healthcare hub of the Northeast under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Addressing a gathering in Silchar, Shah highlighted the rapid development witnessed in the state over the past few years.
He said a semiconductor plant worth Rs 27,000 crore has been established in Assam, marking a major step in boosting high-technology manufacturing and industrial growth in the region.
Drawing a comparison between successive governments at the Centre, Shah alleged that during 2004–2014, the Congress-led government allocated Rs 1.28 lakh crore for Assam’s development.

He said the Vibrant Village II programme would play a crucial role in strengthening border areas and ensuring balanced regional development as part of this broader vision.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, "The Vibrant Village II projects will cost Rs 6,900 crore, covering 334 blocks and 1,954 villages across 17 states, including nine districts, 26 blocks, and 140 villages in Assam. These 140 villages in Assam will have the same amenities as every village in India... This Rs 7 thousand crore program, which aims to develop approximately two thousand villages... It encompasses a wide range of schemes, including security-related schemes, scheme saturation schemes, and numerous connectivity initiatives."
