AMSU stages human chain protest in Nagaon over alleged derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad

The All Assam Minority Students' Union (AMSU) on June 11 organised a one-hour human chain protest at Singimari in Assam's Nagaon district, demanding action against individuals accused of making derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad on social media.

The protest was held as part of a statewide programme undertaken by the student body in response to the alleged offensive comments circulating on social media platforms.

The demonstration in Singimari was organised by the Kaliabor district committee of AMSU, with participants expressing strong opposition to the alleged insults directed at the Prophet.

Protesters demanded strict legal action against those responsible for the remarks and called on the authorities to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to prevent the spread of content that could hurt religious sentiments.

AMSU leaders warned that if the accused individuals are not arrested and brought to justice, the organisation would launch a larger mass movement across the state.

The protesters also urged the government and law enforcement agencies to act promptly to maintain communal harmony and address the concerns of the minority community.

The protest concluded peacefully, with participants reiterating their demand for stringent action against those allegedly involved in making derogatory comments on social media.
