Assam: AAP, Raijor Dal members stage protests to condemn Delhi CM Kejriwal's arrest

The Assam unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Raijor Dal (RD) staged demonstrations in Guwahati along with the rest of the state on Friday in protest against the arrest of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal with opposition parties coming together to condemn ED action against the AAP leader.

Kejriwal was arrested on Thursday night by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in an excise policy-linked money laundering case.

In Guwahati, AAP members took out a procession from the party's state headquarters, located about two km from the state secretariat, but were prevented by security forces. A similar protest was staged by AAP members in Dibrugarh.

Meanwhile, Raijor Dal staged a protest in the heart of Sivasagar town, in front of the statue of Bhupen Hazarika on March 22.

The protest was against the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Raijor Dal accused the BJP government of orchestrating a conspiracy.

Slogans in favour of the protest echoed through the streets of Sivasagar.

Kejriwal was arrested on Thursday night by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in an excise policy-linked money laundering case.

A similar protest was staged by AAP members in Dibrugarh.
