Assam: AASU and literary forum stage massive protest against illegal stone, sand mining in Beki river

The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and the local literary forum staged a human chain protest against illegal sand and stone mining in the Beki River near Gamariaguri, close to Salbari in Baksa.

The demonstration was led by the Gowardhana AASU unit and the branch literary forum, with significant participation from residents of Greater Gamariaguri and Hatapara.

Protesters raised slogans demanding an immediate ban on mining activities, emphasizing the environmental damage and threats to local livelihoods. They further issued a stern warning, stating that failure to address their concerns would lead to an intensified agitation on a much larger scale.
