A complaint has been lodged against AIUDF chief and MP Badruddin Ajmal by Momi Roy Choudhury, the General Secretary of Jatiya Nari Bahini, the women’s wing of Raijor Dal, in Bongaigaon.
The complaint follows Ajmal’s alleged offensive remarks against Gitashree Tamuli, a professor and the wife of Sivasagar MLA and Raijor Dal leader Akhil Gogoi. The remarks have sparked strong opposition from Jatiya Nari Bahini, which has condemned Ajmal’s statements as unacceptable and derogatory.
Badruddin Ajmal while addressing the media said, "Akhil Gogoi's wife is old, so have nothing to say in this regard. Well yes, if she had been young then would have commented something. She is old, so what will I say".
Addressing the issue, Momi Roy Choudhury accused Ajmal of reappearing in Assam’s political discourse at the behest of his mentors, despite his diminishing political relevance. She likened his resurfacing tactics to that of a “cunning fox”, alleging that his political maneuvers are strategically planned to remain in the spotlight.
The incident has added to the growing tensions between Raijor Dal and AIUDF, with Ajmal facing criticism over his comments.
