Assam: Bangladeshi mother and son illegally residing in Hailakandi, arrested

The Bilaipur police in the Hailakandi district of Assam apprehended 2 Bangladeshi nationals, a mother, and her son. They were identified as Rubel Ahmed Sheikh and Amirun Begum. The duo had been residing in a village in Bilaipur, Hailakandi district, since their arrival in India from Bangladesh in 2019.

The arrest came following diligent efforts by the Officer-in-charge of Bilaipur police station, Nabajit Lahon, acting on information from confidential sources. The police swiftly took action, leading to the apprehension of Rubel Ahmed Sheikh and Amirun Begum.

The 2 Bangladeshi nationals were subsequently presented before the Hailakandi Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court by the Bilaipur police for further legal proceedings.
