Assam: Bhutan king visits International Border Trade Centre in Dhubri

The king of Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck visits Border Trade Centre at Lakhimari in Golakganj along the India-Bangladesh border in Dhubri district on Thursday.

As special guests for the celebration of Bangladesh's Independence and National Day, the King visited the National Martyr's Memorial in Savar, Bangladesh on 25 March for a ceremony to pay tribute to the martyrs of the 1971 War of Independence on 26 March.

Later, the King visited Padma Bridge, and a Special Economic Zone in Araihazar, Narayanganj and then reached to Kurigram in the northern part of Bangladesh on 27 March, to view the site identified for the development of a Special Economic Zone for Bhutan.

The king then arrives in India on March 28 and passes through the land customs station (LCS) in Lakhimari, which is connected to the Bangladeshi customs office in Sonahat. He then proceeds to Gelephu by land, using Indian roads.
