On the final day for filing nomination papers for the first phase of the Assam Panchayat Elections 2025, the BJP and its ally AGP turned the event into a grand show of strength in Margherita.
Over 20,000 supporters joined a vibrant cultural procession featuring Bihu and Jhumur dance troupes, creating a festive yet politically charged atmosphere as candidates marched to the Margherita Co-District Commissioner’s office to file their nominations.
The BJP has fielded candidates for 12 Anchalik Panchayats and 4 Zilla Parishad seats, while the AGP has nominated a candidate for one Anchalik Panchayat seat within the Margherita Assembly segment.

Senior leaders and party workers from both the BJP and AGP were present in large numbers, reflecting strong grassroots mobilization. The coalition leaders exuded confidence, claiming a clean sweep in the region.
The candidates expressed joy and confidence following the formal submission of their nomination papers, marking the beginning of an intense election campaign in the politically significant constituency.
