Assam BJP president reviews preparedness ahead of Rajnath Singh's Barpeta visit

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to visit Barpeta on March 14, where he will pay a visit to the Barpeta Satra and participate in a public meeting.

BJP State President Bhabesh Kalita, who arrived in Barpeta on Tuesday, oversaw preparations for Rajnath Singh's rally.

Upon arrival, Kalita addressed reporters, emphasizing the importance of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). He urged those opposing CAA to move to the Supreme Court, assuring that not a single Bangladeshi citizen could enter Assam through CAA.

"We must protect our language and culture. CAA will not harm the Assamese nation," stated Kalita, attributing the instability in Assam to a few intellectuals. He expressed concern over the burning of a namghar at Shilpukhuri in Morigaon district, demanding strict punishment for the miscreants.

Taking a swipe at the opposition alliance, Kalita questioned their unity, highlighting that even AAP and TMC had announced their candidates. He dismissed their impact on the elections, asserting that agitators who do not vote for the BJP would not sway the results.

In a final note, Kalita mentioned that all BJP MLAs had entered their respective constituencies, signalling the party's preparedness for the upcoming events.

The visit of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, coupled with Bhavesh Kalita's statements, sets the stage for political discourse in Barpeta as the election fervour intensifies.
