Residents of Bongaigaon expressed dissatisfaction over the irresponsible task carried out by the contractor of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
While beneficiaries were fortunate with the said scheme, villagers of Kahibariunder Srijangram panchayat expressed their discontentment with the contractor carrying out the project recklessly.
As per reports, the walls around the city have witnessed visible cracks just within a month of its construction in several places.
The public alleged that contractors and engineers want to complete the work of the scheme by doing substandard work to warm up their pockets.

Speaking to the media, locals said, "The walls have already broken down although the work is just half done...the work has been substandard and we appeal to the government to look into it for better construction."
Meanwhile, a worker engaged in the JJM project said, "Villagers are complaining after the wall broke down due to the contractor who was tasked with filling the area with river sand, which pressurised the walls."
Further, the worker assured that the walls would be rebuilt soon.
The local people have sought the intervention of the divisional minister and the state chief minister in this regard.
Jal Jeevan Mission was launched on August 14, 2019, and the Saubhagya Scheme are the vision of the current Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, to provide safe adequate drinking water through individual household tap connection to be fully established by the year 2024.
Accordingly, JJM was initiated in Assam and reached various parts of the state and the scheme is also under progress in Bongaigaon.
