Assam Congress holds ‘Jai Hind Yatra’ in Guwahati, salutes army’s strikes on terror camps

The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Friday, May 9, organised a ‘Jai Hind Yatra’ at its state headquarters in Guwahati to honour the Indian Army’s recent anti-terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from Congress leaders and party workers, many of whom wore army-style outfits as a symbolic tribute to the armed forces. The gathering resonated with patriotic chants and nationalistic fervour, reflecting a united front in support of India's military.

Speaking at the event, APCC President Bhupen Kumar Borah strongly condemned the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, describing it as "an assault on India’s soul." He praised the Indian Army’s retaliatory action, including reported strikes on terrorist camps in Lahore, calling them “a strong and clear response to Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.”

“The Army has delivered a bold message — that India will never tolerate attacks on its sovereignty,” Borah said. “This is a proud moment for every Indian, and we stand firmly behind our forces.”

The 'Jai Hind Yatra' concluded with party members raising slogans like “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Jai Hind,” and taking a collective pledge to always support the country’s security forces and uphold national integrity.

The APCC said the event was not just political, but a reflection of the Congress party’s unwavering commitment to national unity, peace, and respect for the armed forces.
