Jandu Construction India Pvt. Ltd., already under scrutiny for alleged corruption, faces fresh accusations regarding substandard construction practices on the 127(B) National Highway project, linking Srirampur to the Dhubri-Phulbari bridge.
The latest allegations focus on the construction of roadside drains in Tamarhat, where residents claim the company has compromised safety by using subpar materials and neglecting crucial engineering standards.
Reports indicate that essential binding rods between drain sections have been omitted, with fewer rods used than required. Concerned locals who questioned the quality of work witnessed laborers abruptly abandoning the site, further intensifying suspicions of malpractice.
In an apparent effort to conceal these alleged irregularities, the company is accused of conducting construction activities at night and covering incomplete sections with soil by morning. Residents fear that these poorly built drains could lead to infrastructure failures and potential accidents in the future.
Additionally, locals have alleged that workers from Jandu Construction India Pvt. Ltd. have threatened those who raised concerns, claiming backing from the district administration. These accusations have heightened public outrage, with demands for immediate intervention to ensure construction quality and accountability.
"If such malpractices persist, lives will be at risk. We urge the authorities to take swift action against this blatant corruption," stated a Tamarhat resident. The controversy continues to escalate, as locals call for strict measures to prevent further violations.
