Director General of Police GP Singh on June 16 held a review meeting on the state’s law and order situation with superintendents of police of six districts of Assam at the Bongaigaon District Collector’s office.
DGP G.P. Singh's comments came on a number of crime cases that shook the state, including the killing of Assam people by Arunachali miscreants in Dhemaji a few days ago. “The process is underway to take custody of the miscreants into the Dhemaji incident”, added GP Singh.
On BJP leader Jonali Nath’s death case, the senior cop said that an investigation is underway and that new information on the case will be out soon.
The senior cop while reacting on the formation of a new armed militant outfit ‘Boro Liberation Army’ stated that the organisation is new and that few of its members have already been arrested.
“I have reviewed the crime status of 6 districts. In the review I found that the crime statistics of Lower Assam have improved”, added the DGP while speaking to the reporters.
The superintendent of police conference is likely to take place in Bongaigaon district after July 10, confirmed the Assam Police official.
