Assam Director General of Police (DGP) Harmeet Singh on Saturday chaired a high-level security review meeting at the Kokrajhar District Superintendent of Police (SP) Office to ensure peaceful and transparent Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) elections.
The DGP assessed the law and order situation and reviewed the preparedness of the district police in the run-up to the polls. Senior officials of Kokrajhar police were present during the meeting.
Speaking to reporters afterwards, DGP Singh underscored the state police’s commitment to ensuring a free, fair, and incident-free election. “We need zero incidents. Free and fair elections are our top priority. As per government directives, we are strengthening security arrangements and evaluating our capabilities,” he said.

He further directed officials to remain vigilant and monitor any attempts to disturb peace or create unrest during the election process.
The visit highlights the state government’s emphasis on maintaining law and order and guaranteeing a smooth democratic exercise in the BTC region.
