Assam: Dhubri Administration destroys drugs worth Rs 3 crore 17 lakh

Dhubri district administration on March 22 destroyed various types of banned contraband at a brick kiln in Gauripur seized from different police stations in the district.

The drugs were burnt in the presence of officials from the district administration and pollution department.
 
In Dhubri district, 90 kg of ganja, 600 grams of heroin, 16 banned tablets, and 22 thousand bottles of confiscated cough syrups were destroyed.

In the past one year, several police stations across the district have seized various narcotic substances and contraband items during the raids. 

A total of 146 FIRs were registered in connection with the incident and more than 200 suspects were arrested in connection with the seizure.

The value of the seized drugs is to be Rs 3 crore and 17 lakh. 

Superintendent of  Police Aparna Natarajan told the media that the police will continue with the anti-drug drive in the coming days as well.
