Assam: Eight independent ward members from Odalguri Panchayat join BJP

Eight ward members of Odalguri Panchayat in Bajali district formally joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under the leadership of Bhabanipur MLA Phanidhar Talukdar.

The newly inducted members had contested the recent panchayat elections as independents, without affiliating with any political party or symbol. Their decision to join the BJP stems from a collective aspiration to ensure accelerated development within their respective wards.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Talukdar called it a moment of pride for the Bhabanipur constituency, asserting that the inclusion of grassroots representatives will further strengthen the party's foundation in rural Assam.

On the matter of selecting a candidate for the upcoming Panchayat President election, BJP leaders indicated that the decision will be made through internal party discussions and consensus-building.
