An elephant was found dead in the Bhuyanpara range of Manas National Park on October 1. The animal, which reportedly succumbed after coming into contact with a solar fence, was discovered in the early hours, sparking concerns about the safety of the region's wildlife.
According to local sources, the exact time of the elephant's death remains unclear, but it is believed to have occurred during the previous night. A resident, speaking to the media, expressed frustration over the incident, blaming the improper setup of the solar fencing and the lack of vigilance by the authorities.
"The person responsible for the solar fence should have been more careful. Had forest officials been on duty or guarding the area, this tragedy might have been avoided," the resident stated. They further highlighted that while forest officials are vigilant during the day, patrolling the park and restricting human activities, their absence at night is glaring. "You can’t even approach the forest in daylight without being noticed, let alone cut wood, as forest officials keep a strict watch. Yet at night, not a single guard is in sight," the resident added.
