Assam: Forest department cracks down on illegal stone sand dumpers in Barpeta

A special task force from the Forest Department, spearheaded by Tapan Das, a ranger from the Rangia Division, collaborated with the Barpeta Road Regional Forest Department in a series of late-night raids across Barpeta district.

The joint team initiated a strategic operation along highways, targeting dumpers transporting rock sand without proper documentation. The collective efforts of the Rangia Division Special Team and Barpeta Road Forest Department yielded success as they seized three illegal stone sand-laden dumpers and unearthed concealed charcoal machines during the covert mission.

In response to the rampant illegal transportation of stones, causing significant environmental harm and evading government revenue, the Forest Department's special team took decisive action aiming to halt the unchecked activities of dumpers transporting non-challaned stones.

The joint operation resulted in the confiscation of three dumpers loaded with stones and sand from various locations in Barpeta district. Additionally, an illegal timber machine involved in the unauthorized milling of timber was also apprehended. Notably, one of the detained dumpers has already been released by the forest department.
